Aquaseal FD and Aquaseal SR are both adhesives from Gear Aid designed for repair purposes, but they cater to different materials and have distinct properties. In the Scuba world, we only use the Aquaseal FD for Wetsuit and Drysuit repairs here at Dive Right In Scuba. We do all of these repairs in-house, so we wouldn't recommend the SR. You can see our repair offerings here. If you need help, just ask!

Aquaseal FD is formulated for flexibility and durability, making it ideal for repairing wet suits, dry suits, waders, and other water sports gear. It is safe for use on natural and synthetic fabrics, including GORE-TEX, neoprene, Hypalon, urethane, and rubber. Aquaseal FD is perfect for permanent repairs that cannot be dissolved with solvents, offering excellent abrasion resistance, making it suitable for high-wear areas. It provides long-term durability, excellent adhesion, and waterproofing with minimal shrinkage, requiring 8-12 hours to fully cure).
On the other hand, Aquaseal SR (Shoe Repair) adhesive, formerly known as Freesole, is specifically designed for footwear repair. It is waterproof, dries clear, and becomes a flexible glue that lasts for years, effectively used to repair boots, create durable toe protectors, and rebuild worn heels. Aquaseal SR is notable for its durability, flexibility, abrasion resistance, and waterproofing capabilities. It can bond to leather, suede, rubber, neoprene, and canvas shoes.
In summary, while both Aquaseal FD and Aquaseal SR offer strong, durable repair solutions, Aquaseal FD is more versatile for a range of outdoor gear and water sports equipment repairs. In contrast, Aquaseal SR is specialized for footwear repairs, providing a durable, flexible, and waterproof adhesive solution.
