Maybe a dumb question, but how does the shoulder dump valve work? Is it activated by the button, or does it just respond to over pressure in the BC? Thanks.

So, it works 2 ways. One, if you overpressurize the BC, it will let the air out so it doesn't explode or burst a seam. Two, if you pull on the inflator, there is a metal cable that runs to the exhaust. This will open the gasket, and also let air out. It's a quicker dump than pressing the button if needed.
