I purchased a used version of this light. Are there any instructions for battery care since it's a nickel battery instead of lithium ion?

The best practice with the older Ni-Cd batteries, is to let them drain almost all the way down before recharging. Unlike the Lithium-Ion, Ni-Cd can retain a memory if you charge it repeatedly after minor use and will act as if the battery is not holding its full charge.
