Hi Jesse, it is not necessary to fully discharge the battery before charging. The lithium ion batteries do not suffer from the ""memory effect"" that NiCad and NiMh batteries do from charging only part way through their cycle. I would however recommend that once it is fully charged, remove it from the charger so it does not build up heat. Heat can affect the performance of Li-Ion batteries.
