The picture suggests the zipper comes with a closed end. Is there an option to get the 9"" zipper with an open end?

Hi Paul, these zippers will all have closed ends to maintain a watertight seal. We do not have any open ended zippers in this style. Please contact me direct at augiej@diverightinscuba.com, and we can discuss your application for the zipper, and see what I can locate for you.
