How does the ABV deal with a situation where the diver gets hit with a small wave on that side? Also, is the assumption that in the presence of the valve, the vaccuum on the regulator will be strong enough to not draw air from the tank? Thanks.

Hi Rob, the ABV is designed with a 1 way check valve that allows air in at the surface, unfortunately it will also allow water in should you encounter waves. Same goes for if you submerge with the ABV open, the pressure in the mask will keep the water out until you inhale and offset the pressure. The premise behind the ABV is to allow you to breath surface air without allowing enough draw to activate the regulator.
